Pendants

The term pendant is commonly used to refer to the entire piece of jewelry but the pendant itself is actually the hanging ornaments that are attached to necklaces, especially chains.

Necklaces

Necklaces are produced in a variety of different lengths and from many materials. Open-ended necklaces often have tassels or beads, do not have a clasp but rather have the ends tied together around the neck.

Chokers fit snuggly around the neck and range from 14 to 16 inches long.

Princess necklaces are made of a string of pearls and are of medium length.

Matinee necklaces are likewise made of a string of pearls and are a bit longer, usually 22 to 23 inches long.

Opera necklaces are 30 inches to 35 inches long. Necklaces over 40 inches long are referred to as a rope.

Lariat necklaces are a long necklace without a clasp, often worn draped multiple times around the neck, the ends can be crossed over, looped or knotted in various ways. This type of necklace sometimes incorporates a loop at one or both ends to allow it to be worn in the style of a Lasso, or it may be worn doubled over with the ends passed through the loop formed in the middle.
